The worksheets' print areas are laid out as Word tables mirroring the printed pages — with real tracked changes a reviewer can accept or reject, and cell addresses that match the page. Tracked or baked-color, your choice.

Green = inserted, amber = changed (the previous value rides a "was: …" cell comment), red struck-through = deleted rows spliced back in place. Formulas stay live; a prepended Legend sheet lists every change with a link to its cell.

The hard parts, done right
Spreadsheet comparison is an alignment problem.
- ✔Rows and columns re-synchronize. One inserted row shows as exactly one inserted row — everything below re-pairs. No cascade of false deltas, and the replay verification proves the alignment on every output.
- ✔Renamed and reordered sheets pair up. Sheets match by name first, then by content similarity — a renamed or moved tab is content-compared, not shown as a whole-sheet delete plus insert.
- ✔Rate impact, computed. Every changed cell shows its relative delta; the report opens with the aggregate — "6 cells changed — average +13.8 %, range +0.1 % to +25 %."
- ✔Big tables just work. Print areas of tens of thousands of rows compare in seconds; beyond readable-Word-table size the redline shows changed pages only, every omission explicitly marked.
- ✔Unchanged sheets hidden, never deleted. With "changed content only", the review copy hides untouched sheets (formulas keep their references); the Legend states the count.
- ✔Honest about formulas. Displayed values are compared; a formula that changed while its printed value didn't is announced as a warning — never silently missed, never a confusing false mark.
