Redlineo

Hands on · Word

Compare two Word documents. Get a redline that proves itself.

Drop the older version on the left, the newer on the right, click Compare. The result is a real redline — not a screenshot, not a proprietary viewer — and it verifies itself on every run: accepting all changes rebuilds the new document, rejecting all restores the old one.

Two ways to see the changes

Pick the output your reader needs.

  • .docx · tracked changes

    Real Word revisions

Native tracked changes the recipient reviews with Word's own accept/reject tools and Review-pane navigation. How the marks are displayed follows each viewer's Word settings.

  • .docx · baked colors

    Fixed strikeout/underline

The same changes flattened into fixed colors — insertions underlined, deletions struck through, in the two colors you pick. Looks identical in every viewer; ideal for e-mail, printing and PDF conversion. The report page carries a color key.

The details generic tools miss

Compared properly, not approximately.

  • Headers and footers redlined. Changes in running headers and footers — where form numbers and edition dates live — are tracked, not silently skipped.
  • Moved text recognized. Identical content deleted in one place and inserted in another reads as "moved (content identical)" on the report — not a false delete plus insert.
  • Formatting: your choice. Formatting-only changes are tracked as "Formatted:" marks when you want them — or adopted silently when a document was merely re-styled.
  • Every change numbered and clickable. The optional report page lists all changes — none truncated — each line a click-to-jump link to the change itself.
  • Changed paragraphs only, on demand. An excerpt of just the changed paragraphs with context, every omission explicitly marked — the full redline remains the deliverable.
  • Honest about limits. Anything that couldn't be redlined faithfully appears as a warning — on screen and on the report page. A warning never blocks the output.

Try it

Your first comparison, in four steps.

  • Steps
    1. Drop the older file on the left tile, the newer on the right.
    2. Pick an output — sensible defaults are pre-selected.
    3. Click Compare. The result downloads automatically, with a ✔ Verified badge when the round-trip check passed.
    4. Open it: the first page is the report — every change listed and clickable, plus the certificate.
  • Formats & proof

Formats: .docx and .docm; both files of a pair must be the same kind.

Proof: every output carries a SHA-256 certificate of its exact inputs and a tamper-evident manifest — drop it on the Verify page anytime and it proves it is unaltered. How verification works →
